Mr Grubb @ Oakdene Bourbon & Coke Slow Roasted Pork Ribs

Visited Mr Grubb @ Oakdene on the weekend for a quiet lunch with my wife and came across their Bourbon & Coke Slow Roasted Pork Ribs on the menu, I didn’t give it a second thought and ordered it.

First impression was that it was a good size for lunch, as you can see from the photo below, it came with a decent serve of Shredded Apple Slaw to make it a satisfying meal.

The meat was super tender and was easy to eat, the ribs were divided into easy to eat portions and I found I got through them with ease. There was something amiss with the flavour of the sauce, I couldn’t get used to the salty and tangy flavours that emanated through it.

The ribs and slaw had a similar vinegar based flavour through them both which I was unable to find relief from and wished the slaw was a heavier mayo based slaw that would help cut through the richness of the ribs.

Overall I enjoyed the ribs but did struggle with the interlacing flavours between the ribs and slaw, for $29 they were a bit overpriced in my opinion for a casual lunch but if you love ribs, they are worth trying.
