Smokin Barrys Pork Ribs

For the past 8 months I have driven past the Yarraville Gardens every night on the way home from work. Two weeks ago my curiosity finally got the better of me. I chose to stop in and see why crowds of people flocked to the park every Thursday and Friday night.

I was pleasantly surprised by the many different options on offer. One van in particular grabbed my eye, not because of the long line of people waiting to order but because of the delicious looking pork ribs that were being served. I made my way to the front of the queue to order my serve of Smokin Barrys Big Pork Ribs with a side of apple slaw and chips.

To be honest I was not expecting greatness…. $20 ribs from the back of a food van could turn out to be all kinds of average. But I was pleasantly surprised.

Smokin Barrys Ribs

The potion size was good, the ribs had a good amount of meat that was melt in your mouth tender. The meat was covered in a full flavoured spice rub that left you wanting more, there was only one thing missing, that sweet sticky BBQ sauce that I have come to expect with pork ribs!
The sides were just enough to complement the meal with out taking the limelight away from the juicy pork ribs. The apple slaw was crisp and fresh although it did lack a little bit of flavour. The chips were well seasoned and crunchy.

While not the best pork ribs I have had, Smokin Barry’s ribs are great value, tasty and very satisfying. I will definitely be calling in on my way home again soon.
